Schools: Doran shines as Declans triumph

St Pauls keeper Devin Lynch makes a save as Daniel Doherty St. Declans closes in during the Boys Division 1 Shield final at Pairc Tailteann.

St Declans Ashbourne rounded off Day 1 of the Allianz Meath Cumann na mBunscol finals with their first ever title win in the Boys Division 1 Shield final.

St Pauls led at the break 2-2 to 0-4 thanks to goals from Oisin Cunningham and Sean Mulvaney. Declan's kept in touch with points from Evan O'Kane, Adam Doran (2) and Callum Thomas.

The Ashbourne school totally dominated the second half and reeled off 1-10 without replay. Full forward and team captain Adam Doran chipped in with 1-5 of that second half tally.

St Declan scorers: Adam Doran 1-7, Daniel Doherty 0-2, Evan O'Kane, Jack Doran, Ciara Doherty, Callum Thomas and Cillian Ryan 0-1 each.
