Playing with 16 is perfectly feasible, you need 15 outfield players and then you have 1 sub!!! There are plenty of teams do it, my owns clubs second team played 3 games this year with only 16 players able to tog, absolute joke of an excuse!!!

I agree. And to try and use the fact it was a free week on the planner... Yes it was a free week and the club requested a change obviously in the knowledge they were never going to fulfill the fixture because it was a dead rubber to them. Really poor form. Deduct them 2 points for the start of next years league and it would deter them or any other club from doing something like this again. Playing a game without 16 players available who are either starters or feature at some point isn't feasible, I believe they were to play St.Colmcilles in this fixture which would've most definitely led to a 30+ point win for Colmcilles at least. Who benefits from that whatsoever? You've clearly never been involved in a team as a player or manager where 16 key players are missing…

I have actually. Been involved with teams as a player and on management teams where we've scraped together 15/16 to a play a match knowing we were most likely gonna take a hiding. However we did it because fulfilling the fixture is the correct thing to do because if every team took that attitude that Tones took of ah sure theres nothing riding on it for us so we just won't bother playing then we'd have walkovers left right and centre. Thankfully most clubs have a bit more respect for the integrity of the league and the other clubs in it. They wanted to have their cake and eat it too. The lads jumped the gun and did not read the post correctly. 16 missing not 16 available. 16 missing is huge but I would have thought they could find 15 just to fulfill

Apologies I did misread the post, however the point being made remains the same, they should still be fulfilling the fixture, if they take a 30+ point clipping then so be it, thats the price you pay for entering a separate competition

Ratoath to beat Cilles in 1A. Bracks to edge Navan in 1B the Hill can top Pats in tight affair in 2A, Clans can beat Ultans after extra time in 2B, Brigid's will have too much for Kilbride in Div 3A and McGovern's Cortown to dent recent Slane celerations in Div 3B emmet (None) - Posts: 33 - 26/06/2023 15:25:44 2489641 Link 1 |

It's comical… I could barely find out the score!

Meath GAA weren't to interested in promoting it either. More interested in Division 5 etc going by their social media posts.

Not much to report, Ratoath dominated the first half and looked like they would win comfortably, Cilles dominated the second half and probably should have kicked on and won it apart from some very nieve defending for the last goal. The ref was an absolute joke and did his best to ruin what was a decent game between two teams

I was at the 2A final between Pats and Meath Hill and I have to say the refereeing in that game was awful for both sides too. I know they give up their time and so criticism should be kept to a minimum but at times some decisions leave you baffled.
