I have come across reference to the Brian Smyth trophy and I am looking to find out where it is, if it is still in circulation and any help would be greatly appreciated. Smyth donated the trophy for the Junior Hurling Championship in 1962 when he was Secretary of the Hurling Board and I am just wondering if it would still be around anywhere.

My possibly useless contribution is that I was in the pub as the Junior Hurling trophy was being passed around a few years ago and it didn't look 50 years old anyway.....
The Meath GAA website used to have an enormous list of all the competition trophies and their names, but it doesn't seem to have been migrated over to the new site when it started up.
I think the Brian Smyth cup was donated to Meath Gaa in mid 2000's and was for Division 3 of the hurling leagues. I remember some controversy at the time as GAA had a rule at the time that a Cup could not be named after a living person but Meath passed no remarks and pushed on

The Brian Smyth Cup was the trophy for the Junior Hurling Championship from the early '60 till the recent reallocation of trophies. To me it was generally a needless exercise. Some very decent, properly hallmarked trophies were replaced by large base metal pieces.
