See that one of the U16 Hurling finals were played in Pairc Tailteann last night. Great idea it is just a pity that other finals had to be played in Dunganny. The pitches are very bad and then to pay €5 in and look at a child playing through a green wired fence just not on and worse on astro turf. Couldn't agree more For all the food the fe14 and fe18 do they shoot them selves in the foot putting finals on Astro right in middle of summer when there are fantastic pitches all over the county Just silly stuff , no forward thinking head4dblackspot (Meath) - Posts: 513 - 21/05/2019 17:56:39 2186379 Link 1 |
Does astro not improve lads tho?Playing on a faster surface instead of allowing the overweight lads slow it down for everyone.

You might have a point if not for that the Dunganny Astro is an old one and brutal to play on

Was at U14 A & B League Finals last night in Kildalkey. Lovely playing surface, dressing room for each team and great areas to watch matches. Dunganny is solely a training facility and should not be used for important matches. There is no atmosphere for the fans.

The pitches in Dunganny need a rest - they are substantially over used during the year - particularly in the winter when County squads use the lights for training. I totally agree - lots of good pitches around the county with good facilities that could be used for juvenile finals during the summer months. As for the Astro - There is no give on the surface and I know a few people who have dislocated shoulders after falling on it! ASaminthehand (Meath) - Posts: 422 - 19/06/2019 16:02:23 2197637 Link 0 |
Not sure about that comment about overweight lads slowing it down?? I have seen some 'large' lads playing and moving the ball very quickly!! Likewise, I have seen plenty of slim lads not be able to move the sliothar at all!!!

Fair point. I have seen some good hurlers who are heavy but there day is nearly gone. I suppose they get away with it in Meath.
