AFL4: Meath Hill have five to spare

May 12, 2013

Meath Hill's Shane McCabe
Div 4 A League played in Meath hill Sunday 12th May

Meath Hill 0-15
Clonard 0-10

Clonard made the long journey to Meath Hill with a very much depleted team on Sunday. Indeed They played the first 20 mins with 14 players as they awaited the arrival of another player.

And it was in those opening 20 mins that the game was won and lost as the hosts started in a flourish and had points on the scoreboard with regularity. They scored 6 pts without reply playing with a strong breeze. But this was balanced out with as many wides and it seemed that this might be fatal when the visitors closed the gap with a brace of points on the 20th minute.

But the Hill got their shooting boots back on for the remainder of the half scoring 5 points to Clonards 3 leaving the half time score Meath hill 0 - 11 Clonard 0 -5.

The second half was a tight affair as Clonard tried to make up the deficit but a post and a good save from keeper Chris Yorke kept the margin stretched. The nearest the visitors got was 12 pts to 0-8 half way through the 2nd half.

Meath hill closed out the game with 3 late points to Clonards 2 and but for some wild shooting and wrong options the margin would be greater.
