On Sunday 29th Moynalty Started their Junior B Group C Football Championship Campaign in Castletown against Wolfe Tones after a bye in the first round.
Wolfe Tones played with a strong wind at their backs in the first half. Tones first attack at Moynalty paid big with Moynalty conceding a penalty in the first minute which was scored. Moynalty responded with a nice point from play on five minutes from Ollie Sheridan. Wolfe Tones then put over two free kicks to leave it Wolfe Tones 1-2, Moynalty 0-1 with 7 minutes gone. Moynalty backs and midfield started to cope better with Conor O'Loughlin and Ronan McMahon both playing well. Moynalty scored four points, three from play one from play, 2 Christy Cahill, 2 Paul Lynch (1 from free) Tones put 2 more (1 from free) to leave it Moynalty 0-5, Wolfe Tones 1-4 at half time.
Moynalty hit the ground running in the second half with a Lynch point and a brillantly taken goal from Bob Maguire inside the first 2 mins, and then a cahill point on 7 mins. Wolfe Tones hit with another from play. Moynalty 3 more points 1 Bob Maguire, 1 Paul Lynch (Free), 1 Ollie Sheridan. Moynalty finished with a goal from Kevin Maguire to leave full time Moynalty 2-10, Wolfe Tones 1-5.
A big Congratulations to both clubs under 10 mentors Olivia Cussen and Larry Henry for turning out their under 10 teams for a mini games at Half time which was warmly received by supporters.
