The Meath U14 girls squad for 2011
Meath Ladies look forward to a full weekend of fixtures.
On Saturday, the Meath under 14 team open their Leinster Championship account with an away assignment against Longford. They will also face Wicklow and Kilkenny, both matches at home.
The u14s have been training hard for this championship and have had several challenges against neighbouring counties - Cavan, Louth and Kildare. The u14s this year are ably managed by Michael Griffin from Boardsmill. Having managed the u12 Meath side for the last two years, Michael is making the step up to the under 14s. He is assisted by Niall Bagnall (Boardsmill), Valerie Gilsenan (Seneschalstown - manager of the u13 Seneschalstown team that will represent Meath at Feile this year), Sean Whelan (Ratoath - assisted Michael with the u12s) and the Meath Ladies County Board's hard working Fixtures Secretary - Tracey Hamilton from Clann na nGael.

On Sunday, the Meath Ladies senior team will look to recover after their loss to Kerry last weekend and achieve a third win in the campaign. Although beaten by the Kingdom by a brace of points, the Royals never threw in the towel. This is a quality that will serve them well in the remainder of the league and in to the championship. Meath face a shorter distance this time, travelling to take on Sligo. Venue is still to be confirmed with the likely throw in time of 2pm. With Tipperary, Dublin, Cavan still awaiting Royal attention, Meath manager Paula Cunningham and her team will be looking to add another win this weekend.
