Sunday afternoon, Ballinabrackey travelled to Trim for a 4 pm throw-in against Seneschalstown in round two of this year's Senior Football Championship.

Both teams came in needing a win, having lost their first-round fixtures to Wolfe Tones and St. Colmcilles respectively. 

The winner of this game is guaranteed Senior football for 2027, while the losers head to the relegation play-off.

Seneschalstown got us off the mark by taking the opening score from play. Sean Kavanagh answered straight away for The Bracks, kicking his point well before Adam O'Brien worked the ball up the centre of the field to raise the green flag for Ciaran Giblin's men. There was an exchange of points with Seneschalstown popping each of their scores from play as Mark Coffey, Kavanagh and Danny Quinn added to Ballinabrackey's tally. It was O'Brien, who was playing a stormer, who rattled the back of the net once again. This gave Ballinabrackey an eight-point lead as we headed for the break. Ballinabrackey 2-05 Seneschalstown 0-03.

Gavin Quinn got the scoreboard moving after the break, but this was to be Ballinabrackey's last point for 10 minutes in the half. These 10 minutes were Seneschalstown's time to shine as they scored 1-4, including a two-pointer, before Richie Coffey got Ballinabrackey's second score of the half. Giving us a two-point game as we headed into the final 20 minutes. Seneschalstown added another 2-pointer, giving us a level game. Seneschalstown took the lead for the first time in the game as they snuck just in front. Simon Finn stepped up for The Bracks, thumping over a solid 2-pointer before Niall Smullen added another. Seneschalstown found the back of Shay Curry's net entering the final 10 minutes, making us level one again. Tension was high in both dugouts as each side matched each other point for point, making us all tied with three minutes remaining on the clock. It was Damien Carroll who put The Bracks ahead before Chris O'Connor added his first and the final score of the game, giving Ballinabrackey a 2-point win and securing them Senior Football for 2027.

Up next for them is a date with St. Colmcilles to see which one of them will progress to this year's quarter-finals.
