
Seneschalstown 3-10 Simonstown Gaels 3-08
Seneschalstown made it back to back wins in Group B of the Meath Cleaning Supplies Junior All-County FC Division 1 after victory over Simonstown Gaels on Sunday morning.
The game was tied at 0-03 each after ten minutes as both teams created chances aplenty with Cian Hosie, Ryan Finnegan and Will Finegan getting on the scoresheet for the eventual winners.
From there Seneschalstown took a grip on the game, Owen Mullen found the net in the 12th minute after a well worked move. After a lull of eight minutes without a score Jack McDonnell put that right with a point before Seneschalstown were awarded a penalty after 22 minutes when Neill Darby was fouled. Captain Ryan Finnegan stepped up and slotted the penalty away to move Seneschalstown seven to the good.
The sides swapped points in the run up to half time with Cian Hosie raising his second white flag before the home side got their first goal a minute before half-time as Seneschalstown lead 2-05 to 1-04 at the break.
Seneschalstown got a dream start to the second half when Alex Finnegan found the net almost immediately after a good team move. Will Finegan and Seán Davis added on points to stretch the lead out to eight points at the three quarter mark.
The scores dried up somewhat in the final fifteen minutes for Seneschalstown with only Will Finegan and Ryan O’Dowd adding to the tally as Simonstown clawed the deficit back gradually. Two goals in injury time for the hosts left only two points in it but with no time for the kickout after the third goal as Seneschalstown held on for a two point victory which leaves them in a good position to qualify for the semi-finals.
