Na Fianna 1-11
The rain was pouring in the second half as O’Mahony’s and Na Fianna battled it out in a tight encounter in the Div 4 FL.
Although Na Fianna scored within the opening minute, Grace Cahill responded with a goal for O’Mahony’s before adding a point. By the twelfth minute, Na Fianna had kicked a goal and three points to swap the lead.
An Aoibhe McElwaine penalty after a foul on Cahill reduced the gap to a single point. Sophie Brady converted a free before McElwaine found the net from play to send O’Mahony’s in with a two-point advantage.
Early in the second half, Na Fianna looked to be through for a goal only for an impressive save from Sonia Mockler. The visitors kicked the first two points to draw level. Substitute Chloe Duffy edged O’Mahony’s ahead again. Na Fianna drew level before McEwaine converted her second penalty.
O’Mahony’s failed to score the for the final quarter and had to withstand some late attacks from Na Fianna. The visitors did manage two points in this time but O’Mahony’s held out well and won by a single point.
