Navan O'Mahony's 2-10
Kildalkey 1-10
O’Mahony’s recovered from a slow start to get the win in the first round of the Div 4 HL in Paddy O’Brien Park on Monday evening.
Kildalkey looked to be on top in the opening five minutes, hitting the first four scores. Jake Patterson broke the momentum with a goal before Dermot McKenna equalised. A Pat Nolan goal from a McKenna sideline and points from Killian Murphy gave O’Mahony’s a three point lead at half time.
O’Mahony’s had a number of opportunities to extend the lead in the second half, with several wides and balls dropping short. Five frees from Murphy and a good score from Aaron Gavin were enough to keep a narrow lead, with O’Mahony’s running out as three point winners.
In addition to the scorers, Cormac O’Shea, Riordan Russell, Colm O’Toole and Mick Reavey were impressive for O’Mahony’s while goalkeeper Max Lafford pulled off some great saves.
