Navan O’Mahony’s 2-11 Clann na nGael 1-13
O’Mahony’s recorded their first victory of the Junior Hurling championship with a win by the narrowest of margins over Clann na nGael in Kilskyre on Friday evening.
Clann na nGael added three points in the first seven minutes, giving them an early lead. Sean Davis got the first score for the Brews Hill side before Athboy extended the lead with a goal in the twelfth minute.
Davis added another point in the seventeenth minute before Rían Porter rattled the net to keep O’Mahony’s in the game. Clann nan Gael added three points in quick succession and Daithi Wade’s point was the final score of the half.

Porter reduced the gap almost immediately after the resumption but Clann na nGael nullified this shortly afterwards, adding two points in the first ten minutes.
Davis and Porter converted frees but Clann na nGael kept th scoreboard ticking over and maintained a slight lead throughout much of the half.
On the twenty-minute mark, a Colm O’Toole sideline was heading towards the square and was directed to the net by O’Dwyer. Although Clann nan Gael added some late score, Riordan Russell managed to add a score in the twenty-third minute and O’Mahony’s won by a single point.
This result leaves O’Mahony’s in third place, taking on Kildalkey in a relegation play-off.
