August 25, 2025

Curraha/St.Vincents 5-7 Dee Rangers 3-10

After an opening round defeat to Rathkenny despite an excellent second half performance, the Curraha/St.Vincents Ladies travelled to Meath Hill to take on Dee Rangers, needing a win to get their Championship campaign back on track.

The hosts got off to s strong start, finding the back of the net with their first attack, and adding a point soon after. Katie Tuite got the visitors off the mark with a point after an excellent catch from a long ball from Mollie White. Róisín O'Connor pointed from a free soon after as Curraha/St.Vincents began to settle into the game. They took the lead on 10 minutes, with Ciara Morgan gathering a pass from Shauna White, before firing to the net. Carly Parson was then called into action to make a double save with Dee Rangers having to settle for a point. Morgan then pointed at the other end following great work from Mollie White, Lucy Andrews and O'Connor. The hosts registered the next 3 points to take the lead after 20 minutes, before Curraha/St.Vincents were awarded a penalty. Ciara Morgan's strike was well saved, but she was quickest to react to put the ball in the back of the net. The hosts responded well and dominated the closing minutes of the half, scoring 1-2 to give them a 4 point lead at the break.

The lead was extended to 6 early in the second half before Morgan completed her hattrick, following a brilliant through ball by O'Connor. Morgan followed up with a free to reduce the gap to 2 with 7 minutes played. Dee Rangers pushed the lead back out to 3, but this was immediately cancelled out by a Katie Tuite goal, sweeping home after a Morgan shot was well saved. The hosts hit the front again with 5 minutes to play as they hit the net again, but Curraha/St.Vincents refused to throw in the towel and continued to fight back and finished the game very well. The back line produced some brilliant turnovers in the closing minutes, and O'Connor and Tuite capitalised on space in the Dee Rangers back lines to create chances to allow them to fight back. Ciara Morgan had an excellent second half, an added 1-2 to her tally in the last 5 minutes, with Tuite rounding off the coring to secure a 3 point win for Curraha/St.Vincents, the first ever championship victory for the newly formed side.
