Nobber 4 – 14 (26) Kilbride 0 – 5 (5)
Nobber Ladies’ adult team continued their championship run on Friday evening with a home clash against South Meath side Kilbride. The black and ambers carried their strong momentum into another commanding win over the green and red. In just their first season together, the team—managed by Ronnie Clements, Paddy O’Reilly, and John Clarke—has now secured a place in the championship quarter-final with a game still to play. Clements, a proud Louth man, yet massive Meath supporter, now firmly rooted in Nobber, alongside locals O’Reilly and Clarke, have been pivotal in guiding the team’s impressive campaign so far.
The Deesiders started brightly with early scores from the reliable Eleanor Gallagher and a goal from Anna Hughes. Nobber showed greater accuracy in front of goal than their opponents, with contributions right across the pitch. Emily Hanratty, Emily McEntee, Gallagher again, and debutant Caoimhe Weldon all added to the tally. Weldon marked her championship debut in style, hitting 1–2 to the delight of the home crowd.
At the back, defenders Sarah Monaghan and Fidel Halpin were solid and relentless, pushing their side forward at every opportunity. Centre back Lisa Lipscombe, well-schooled in the Royal County picking up all of her football skills in Meath, displayed composure and leadership throughout. Midfielder Noelle Hanna was at the heart of Nobber’s best moves, providing stability and creativity. Up front, alongside Weldon’s sharp debut, youngster Samara Hutchinson caused real problems for Kilbride with her movement and finishing threat.
Goals proved decisive in such a comprehensive win. Hughes set the tone early, Weldon struck on debut, and the “A and E” duo of Arlene and Eleanor McCormack sealed the scoring with their trademark flair—true McCormack magic.
Attention now turns to a local derby against Wolfe Tones. The black and ambers travel to Kilberry on Sunday, August 31 at 4 PM for what promises to be a hard-fought contest.
