Dunderry 3-16 Kilskyre Moylagh 2-17
This has been a highly entertaining three rounds of hurling championship in this JHC2 competition and in particular Kilskyre Moylagh’s two home fixtures with round one v Boardsmill which Kilskyre Moylagh edged out and then this one getting edged out by Dunderry.
This evenly contested match with both sides having their purple patches is what made this an entertaining high scoring game. The first half was nip and tuck with Ronan McGuinness keeping Kilskyre Moylagh in touch with some tidy free taking and points from play with the sides going in level at the break seven points apiece.
The second half was very much a case of two quarters with Kilskyre Moylagh off to a flyer and Enna Brody scoring a goal withing twenty seconds of the throw in. Another well worked goal executed by James McDonnell on the 36th minute followed up with points from McGuinness and McDonnell to open up a six-point cushion you felt this is one the home side could hold onto. But Kilskyre Moylagh seemed to tire and lose concentration and with that Dunderry could sense the opportunity and they took it with an opportunist goal from a close in free when Kilskyre Moylagh went to sleep and a fortunate goal which lobbed the goalie and from there Dunderry had the momentum to see if out and straight to a semifinal.
For Kilskyre Moylagh they will focus on the IHC and will be happy to have the second team and a panel of twenty plus players to help push them on.
