Trim sent over a last gasp 45 to win this Fairyhouse Steel, Meath Senior Football Championship Group C Round 2 game played in Dunganny last Thursday evening, August 14th.

Rathkenny playing against the wind, opened the scoring with Donal Keogan popping over a point in the third minute. Trim levelled matters when Tom Carmody sent over, although there were huge shouts that it may not have gone over, the white flag was raised. The men in black and red got the next score of the game when Luke Kealy got on to a pass from Christy Meade, he turned his marker and ran towards goal, sidestepped another attempted tackle, and hit low to the net. Trim then took command of the scoring when Aaron Lynch sent over two 2-pointers in a row and after a Rathkenny kickout was collected inside the large arc, it was Aaron Lynch who sent over from the resultant free. Keith Curtis narrowed the gap to a single point when he sent over a free on nineteen minutes. Adam Byrne levelled matters when he sent over on twenty-three minutes. Keith Curtis then put Rathkenny back in front from a twenty-fifth minute free. Aaron Lynch sent over a brace of points from play to edge the Trim side back in front before Noah Jenkinson sent over the equaliser with the last score of the half. Trim 0-08 Rathkenny 1-05
Rathkenny had an early effort in the second half that was sent out for a 45. Keith Curtis sent the 45 towards the posts but it held up slightly and gave the onrushing James O’Hare the opportunity to palm to the net from the edge of the square. Things got better for Rathkenny when Noah Jenkinson sent over from play to leave four between the sides with 34 minutes played. Ninety seconds later, the Trim number 20 sent over from play. Rathkenny edged the gap out again as David Curtis sent a left footed effort between the posts with 36 minutes gone. Trim got a goal when corner forward Sean Foley sent to the net after an initial fumble. Rathkenny put two between the sides when Keth Curtis sent over an excellent free from a tight angle. He was then unlucky to see a 2-point effort from distance hit the posts. Trim put over the next two points of the game when James Murray and James Toher sent over and we were level once more with the clock showing 44 minutes played. Inside a minute, Adam Byrne sent over his second point of the game to edge Rathkenny back in front as we ended the third quarter.
Aaron Lynch levelled the game once more when he sent over from a free. Trim went back in front when half back Eoin Sweeney found space and buried to the net as we entered the final ten minutes. Rathkenny never gave up and got the next three scores to level matters once more. Sub Max McKenna sent over on 53 minutes, followed soon after by a great point from Donal Keogan. Max McKenna then cut inside to pop over the equalising score with fifty-six minutes played. Trim went back in front when Aaron Lynch scored from play. Back came Rathkenny with Keith Curtis’ fourth point of the evening following a 3v3 infringement by Trim. The clock showed sixty minutes, but referee Patrick Coyle indicated that there were to be at least four minutes of additional time. Aaron Lynch sent over his tenth point of the evening, but Rathkenny levelled again through Corbin Jenkinson. With time running out Trim had one more scoring opportunity which was blocked out for a 45. With the last kick of the game, Aaron Lynch converted the 45. Next up for Trim are Dunshaughlin while Rathkenny face Meath Hill, both games to be played on Sunday 31st August.
