Moynalvey’s win assures a semi-final position with a game to spare, meaning the final round group game between Moynalvey and St. Patricks will determine the top two placings in the group for progression to the semi-final stage, with both sides already qualified.

It was the visitors Duleek/Bellewstown who got off the brightest here with a brace of points on the score board in the opening three minutes from Steven Nolan and Robbie Duff.

Moynalvey’s opening score came in the seventh minute when Luke O’Halloran brilliantly struck over a’45, making it 0-2 to 0-1.

Darragh McKeown extended Duleek/Bellewstown’s advantage, but Moynalvey responded sixty seconds later with Aaron Sweeney opening his account, 0-3 to 0-2.

Then came the game’s opening goal when the Harnan cousins Ciaran and William combined for the latter to finish to the net, leaving it 1-5 to 0-4 on the quarter hour mark.

Duleek/Bellewstown had the perfect response, raising a green flag of their own within ninety seconds of Moynalvey’s goal when wing back Donnacha Murphy raided forward to finish past Moynalvey ‘keeper Anthony Brien with a shot from an acute angle to the left hand side of the posts leaving the minimum between the sides again, 1-5 to 1-4.

The next four scores went the way of Moynalvey, including the game’s only two pointer from Williamm Harnan along with points for Aaron Sweeney (2) and Evan Drum to extend the home side’s advantage to six, 1-10 to 1-4.

Both sides added a brace apiece before referee Shane Waters half time whistle, Duleek/Bellewstown’s from Darragh McKeown and Robbie Duff, with Moynalvey’s pair both coming from Aaron Sweeney leaving the score board read 1-12 to 1-6 at half time.

Both sides had a brace apiece added to their tallies with five minutes of the restart, Darragh McKeown getting the opening score and a second the other side of two Evan Drum points for Moynalvey, leaving the six point margin between the sides again, 1-14 to 1-8.

Moynalvey half time substitute Adam Rooney pointed, which was followed up by a second of the evening from Luke O’Halloran to extend the home side’s advantage to eight, 1-16 to 1-8, with 42 minutes played.

Darragh McKeown and O’Halloran traded points, before Moynalvey went on to add another three points before the full time whistle, points for Barry Walsh, Evan Drum and Luke Duffy rounded off the scoring to leave Moynalvey eleven point winners on a 1-20 to 1-9 score line.
