Na Fianna 4-18 Killyon 1-15
Na Fianna recovered from their round 2 defeat to Trim to record their second victory in Group B of the Meath Senior Hurling Championship.
Lomans Park Trim provided the setting for this round 3 clash with Killyon who were coming off the back of an very good showing against Dunderry.
The impressive David Raleigh was giving the Na Fianna defence plenty to think about in the opening twenty minutes. Raleigh got the scoreboard working but by the 10th minute Na Fianna were 0-4 to 0-2 up after points from Shane Walsh, Rory Fagan (2) and Oisin Bright. By the 20th minute Raleigh had added another four points to his name and Killyon were full value for their 0-9 to 0-8 advantage. Two quick fire goals swung the game Na Fianna’s way. Sean Coffey raised the first green flag and minutes later Peter Slevin was in for goal number 2. Na Fianna went to the dressing room 2-9 to 0-9 in front.
Fagan extended that lead with the opening score of the second half before Aaron Duignan gave Killyon a life line with a goal. That’s as close as Killyon got. Na Fianna upped their game and outpointed Killyon 0-7 to 0-4 before their third goal arrived courtesy of centre forward Fagan. Shane Walsh put the icing on the cake with minutes to go with their fourth goal.
The winners take on Kilmessan in round 4, Killyon turn their attention to Trim.
