Boardsmill 2-18 Dunderry 4-10
After an opening round win over Na Fianna Dunderry lost out to Boardsmill in round 2 of the Junior B Hurling Championship at Boardsmill.
Mikey Dowdall opened the scoring in Boardsmill followed shortly afterwards by a home team point. Cian Coogan raised a white flag when Darcy put it on an plate for him. The home team hit the next five to lead by four. That lead was cut to the minimum when Harry Crinion sent the sliothar goalwards form the puc out he collected and Ben Clarke was at the ready to pull- and rattled the net. Boardsmill missed their next opportunity and from Heffernans next puc out another green flag was raised , this time Cian Coogan was the scorer. Harry Crinion hit a beauty followed by another one and when Coogan pointed a free Dunderry were ahead by five. A Boardsmill penalty reduced that lead , however Crinion and Darcy combined well to get Coogan on the ball who pointed with ease. A Boardsmill goal leveled proceedings temporarily. Coogan converted another free before Crinion pulled on a Mikey Dowdall delivery and put four between the sides again. The Mill scored from play and from placed ball before Coogan finished the half with a free.
Half time 2-08 to 3-08
A quick thinking short free from Coogan was pulled on by Shane O Brien and a fourth Dunderry goal resulted. A run of four unanswered points for the hosts followed and , but for a great save from Heffernan the damage could have been worse. The teams traded frees before Tomás Ó Conaire kept the advantage to three.
The home team however finally got the upper hand and hit Dunderry for five this time to win out by two.
