Moynalvey’s second team opened their Meath Cleaning Supplies Junior All-County Football Championship Div. 6 with a comprehensive win over visitors Curraha at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on Tuesday evening 5th August.
Moynalvey 3-20
Curraha 1-8
It was one way traffic throughout this game as Moynalvey had the two points on offer wrapped up by half time, leading 2-13 to 0-1 at the break.
Moynalvey’s Conor Quinn opened the game’s scoring with a point in the fifth minute, with Curraha sending over their opening score which would prove to be their only score of the first half a minute later.
A dominant first half saw the home side reel off an unanswered 2-12 before referee Shane Mooney blew his half time whistle.
Moynalvey got off to the perfect start with two green flags raised within the opening ten minutes, the first of those goals coming from Luke Duffy who latched onto an Aaron Sweeney interception off the Curraha kickout to finish to an empty net and the second of the those goals coming from top scorer William Harnan. The points were accounted for by Harnan (5) including a two pointer, Aaron Sweeney (2), Luke O’Halloran (2), Barry Walsh (2) and Conor Quinn to leave Moynalvey with a commanding 2-13 to 0-1 half time lead.
As expected Curraha restarted the second half with a response hitting the opening five points of the second half including a two pointer to leave it 2-13 to 0-6 eight minutes into the half.
However, the visitors’ next score wouldn’t arrive until the 58th minute, with Moynalvey adding a further 1-7 in that period. The goal coming from Luke O’Halloran and points from Cathal McCabe (2), Barry Walsh, William Harnan, Aaron Sweeney and substitutes Adam Rooney and James O’Neill, making it 3-20 to 0-6.
Curraha did add a further 1-2 before the full time whistle to leave Moynalvey comfortable winners on a full time score of 3-20 to 1-8.
