Dunderry 1-17 Ballinlough 1-8
Dunderry started best on their home turf. Points from William Tracy (two) Ben Clarke and a two point beauty from Jack Darcy raced the lads into a five to nothing lead. Bob landed a two pointer free next before Clark tapped over another. Doherty made it nine nil with a free before the Lough lads got their opener from play.
Jack Connelly broke down a Ballinlough attack and delivered the ball to Kyran Woods who pointed. Luckily for Connelly we had a dentist at the game who whisked him onto a chair somewhere to look at the damage he suffered while interseting the play. Fair play John.
The former meath great Peadar Byrne kicked a free next before Doherty converted another free after Darragh Fay made up serious ground. A goal each end finished the half with Ciarán Brady providing the Dunderry one. 1 -11 to 1-02. Clarke pointed to end a move in which Jack Darcy delivered the perfect pass.
A Ballinlough two pointer closed the gap somewhat before William Tracy collected Kelly's kick out, ran the pitch at his usual speed, passed to Clarke who obliged again. Woods was on hand again after Chuck and Rian Fay combined to set up the score. The Lough responded with a free and a point from play before Woods again led the attack, this time rounding his man and punting over at pace. A lovley score. Ballinlough finished their scoring with a fine two pointer. The home team were patient in the build up for the next score. Jack Darcy, Ciarán Brady and the ever busy Woods had a part in Clarks last of the evening. Tadhg Dowd pointed superbly to finish the game 1-17 to 1-08.
Shout out to Darragh Fay who bounced back to his feet after taking a serious hit. As Dermot Dempsey said -'its a good job he's a hardy little.....'
