Kilmainhamwood made their way to an excellently presented Dunganny pitch to face the men from Clonard in the opening round of the Juinor B Football Championship.
Kilmainhamwood playing with the advantage of a slight breeze set out their stall early with 4 points from the in-form Aidan Roche who scored from a variety of angles to get the Wood tally in motion. In between these points was a Niall Bennett shot rifled into the net to set the Kilmainhamwood men well on their way to victory. Rian Stafford got a trio of scores consisting of a green flag and 2 white flags to continue the scoring momentum. Before half time Aidan Roche registered a further 1-2 to his name. Shane Townley and Rian Stafford both raised orange flags to give the Wood men a healthy lead at half time.

Clonard took the game to Kilmainhamwood in the second half and set about reducing the substantial deficit with 3 quick points, Kilmainhamwood managed to stay on par with Clonards second half tally, with scores from Niall Conlan, Niall Bennett and Rian Stafford. With the result a formality Kilmainhamwood found it hard to kick on a gear, Clonard punished this by registering a goal and 2 points to slightly reduce arrears. Scores from Darragh Smith, Niall Bennett and a brace from Shane Townley guided the Wood to the win and a second round match against Eastern Gaels.
