Jack O'Bryne strike for The Saints during the MHL Division 3 final against Longwood at Pairc Tailteann

The Saints 2-9 Longwood 1-11

The Saints made history when claiming their first ever minor title with this victory over Longwood in the Minor Hurling League Division 3 final at Pairc Tailteann.

Since its formation this group has made steady progress and reached the MHT Group D final earlier in the year.

Longwood were 1-2 to 0-0 up before the East Meath side got off the mark through Conor Heavey. Longwood added another point before The Saints enjoyed a purple patch. Oisin Moran pointed before two quick fire goals from corner forward Pete Hutcheson gave them control. Rocco Reilly extended their lead and at the break they led 2-4 to 1-5.

By the end of the third quarter the sides were level 2-6 to 1-9 but three points from the impressive Hutcheson including the winner sent the silverware heading for the seaside.

After the game Niall Gogarty presented the cup to Saints captain Conor Heavey.

The Saints scorers: Pete Hutcheson 2-5, Oisin Moran, Conor Heavey, Sean Donnelly and Rocco Reilly 0-1 each

Referee: Stephen Dowling
