Boardsmill added the Division 7 Football League title to their Tailteann Shield success earlier in the year with this three point win over Dunboyne at Summerhill. PHOTOS

A very even opening half finished with the sides level on 1-5 apiece. Niall Durkan got the scoreboard working but soon after Dunboyne were three in front thanks to a Ross Reynolds goal and their first white flag from Johnny Pearl. Liam O’Brien had the game all square a minute later with a well worked goal. The Mill led by three but just before the short whistle a two pointer from Reynolds and Michael Dunne point left the teams all square at the break.

Veteran Stephen Moran set up Jason Daly to put Dunboyne ahead ten minutes into the second half with their second goal but James McNally’s men replied immediately with their second major through O'Brien again. Boardsmill lost former county senior Danny Dixon to injury with 15 minutes to go but the introduction of Kyle and Evan Dixon had the desired effect. The duo began winning primary possession and their forwards began to find their scoring range. Keith Hamilton, John Mitchell and Durkan pointed before Durkan was in for a well executed goal. Niall Bagnall, with the score of the game, and Mitchell extended Boardsmill’s lead to six before Jack Doyle raised Dunboyne’s third green flag. Evan Dixon and Sean McNulty exchanged points before refeee Thomas McLeod blew the final whistle and the silverware was on its way to Boardsmill.

After the game Thelma Byrne presented the Division 7 FL Cup to captain Niall Durkan.
