These neighbours hadn't far to travel for the first round of the Senior Hurling Championship.
Evan Nolan opened the scoring from play on the new pitch in Dunganny. The teams traded frees before Trim struck from play and again from placed ball to leave the minimum between the sides. Fagans puc out was controlled excellently by Rian Fay who fed Adam Kelly who leveled proceedings. A brace from the town side from play were cancelled out by two frees from Nolan. With Trim keeping the umpire busy one end with wides Dunderry couldn't get their shots away and only managed another free to end the half on 0-6 to the not much better score of 0-7 .
Mark Leavy had the side level within 20 seconds of the restart. The reds responded with one from play and a free.
Leavy split the posts from the corner after hard work by Dempsey . A point between the sides. Trim responded yet again from play and a free. William Tracy tore open the town defence with a pacey run , dropped out the sliothar to who else but Leavy who drilled over the bar. This time Trim hit three on the trot. Nolan pointed from placed ball to leave four between the sides half way through the second half. Trims only superiority was their ability to get scores from Play. Another two stretched the lead to six. The sides traded frees- Leavy doing the honours for the black and whites. Substitute Jordan Martin pointed from play but soon after Trim bagged the only goal of the game when the ball bounced in the heart of the Dunderry defence and somehow ended up the the net. Two more Leavy frees meant Dunderry finished on 0-14 against 1-17 for the much fancied town side.
