Drumree delivered a statement performance on Sunday morning, producing a dominant second-half display to overcome Navan in front of a home crowd in the Division 2 League. Despite trailing by one point at halftime, Drumree found their rhythm after the break and completely overpowered their opponents, outscoring them comfortably to secure a well-deserved win.

Keith “Horse” Rooney was the standout on the day, living up to his name with two superbly taken goals from play. His pace, strength, and clinical finishing proved too much for the Navan defence, who simply couldn’t keep up. Leading the forward line with authority, Rooney gave the home supporters plenty to cheer about.

Drumree’s attacking threat didn’t end there. Lennan McCormack had an excellent game, contributing two points from play and consistently linking with those around him to create chances. Evan Curley continued his dependable form from placed balls, finishing with an impressive 0-9 (0-7 from frees and 0-2 from play). Josh Wall and Sean Kilcoyne added three points apiece from play, with Cathal McCormack and David Reilly also chipping in with two each. Mark Devanny added to the tally late on, coming off the bench to replace Rooney in the and making an immediate impact with a well-taken score.

While the forwards were clinical, the win was built on a strong defensive foundation. Aidan Fraher put in a rock-solid display at the back, breaking up attacks and driving Drumree forward at every opportunity. He was well supported by Sean Kennedy, Gavin Byrne, Odhran O’Riordan, Niall Gavin, and Gareth Rooney, all of whom contributed to limiting Navan’s scoring threat.

In midfield, David Reilly and AJ Collins worked tirelessly, winning key possessions and setting the tempo for Drumree’s dominant spell. Reilly’s two points from play capped off a strong all-round performance.
