Seamus Mattimoe Gaeil Colmcille

Seneschalstown 0-11 Gaeil Colmcille 0-16

Gaeil Colmcille made the trip to Fr. Tully Park to face Seneschalstown and looking to make it three wins in a row after wins over St. Colmcille’s and Ballinabrackey.

Seamus Mattimoe opened the scoring for Gaeil Colmcille with a point inside the opening 90 seconds but two quick fire points from the hosts saw them lead 0-02 to 0-01 before Liam Ferguson equalised in the 10th minute in what was an cagey opening 10 minutes.

A well worked move by Kells saw Oisin Reilly play through Mattimoe who was left one on one with the Seneschalstown keeper but his effort was kept out by a good save.

The next four points was once again shared with a Barry Farrelly free and an Oisin Reilly point registering the scores for Gaeil Colmcille.

Seneschalstown moved three points clear by the 23rd minute with Gaeil Colmcille’s discipline allowing the Yellow Furze side the opportunity to score three frees on the bounce. Oisin Walsh got one point back for Kells but a two point free left Seneschalstown four clear and the opened the biggest lead of the match.

Liam Devine had Kells second chance of a goal but again the Seneschalstown keeper was equal to the effort. Just on half-time Mattimoe latched on to a dropped ball by the Seneschalstown keeper and Mattimoe pulled on the ball for a point to bring the half to a close with the Gaeils trailing 0-06 to 0-09

Kells got off to the perfect start in the second half nailing the first four points with a Barry Farrelly free, a Jonny Quigley point and another Mattimoe score that levelled the game before Liam Barry gave The Gaeils the lead after a good interception from Jordan Muldoon.

Seneschalstown got back on level terms but an Ajay Tormey free once again put Gaeil Colmcille ahead. Oisin Walsh added a lovely point and when Seneschalstown breached the three man up rule, Ajay Tormey tapped over the resulting free.

Seneschalstown got an 11th point of the game but three further points from Kells saw out the game with Walsh and Tormey getting their third points each and Dan Farrelly seeing his goal effort being tipped over the crossbar being the ninth person to score on the day to give Gaeil Colmcille the two points.

Three games remain for Kells with Wolfe Tones, Summerhill and Ratoath all to play.
