Moynalty Under 15's celebrate with the Group E FT cup at Kilmainham

Moynalty 4-12 Ratoath 1-11

The game began with Danny Gorman opening the scoring just six minutes in. Ratoath responded with two quick points to settle into the game. However, it was Gorman again who turned the tide firmly in Moynalty’s favour, netting a brilliant individual goal 13 minutes in, after excellent work from Henry Pratt who won a key kickout to start the move. Gorman again, followed it up with a point, and moments later stripped the goalkeeper to drive home his second goal of the day.

Ratoath showed resilience with two more points around the 19-minute mark, but Moynalty’s momentum was relentless. A fine point from Evan Coldrick was followed by superb defensive work from Hugh Gilsenan with a vital goal-line block, while corner-back Owen Finnegan also impressed under pressure.

Coldrick’s influence continued as he struck a brilliant goal on 28 minutes after a slick pass from James Carville, who was instrumental throughout the half, constantly on the ball and creating opportunities. Will Smyth also made a big defensive impact with two crucial blocks before Ratoath eventually added another point to their tally.

As the half drew to a close, Henry Pratt capped off an outstanding first half performance with a well-taken point to send Moynalty into half with a commanding 3-06 to 0-08 lead.

Evan Coldrick struck early in the second half with a soccer-style goal after a great run by Owen Finnegan. Hugh Gilsenan continued to stand out in defence, reading the game superbly. While the Ratoath goalkeeper made a superb save to deny Coldrick a second.

Danny Gorman added a point aswell as Oran McKenna with an outstanding long range effort, before Ratoath hit back with a goal that slipped past Harry Foran, who was outstanding up to that point and produced a strong save moments after. James Carville responded with a point, and frees were exchanged by both sides , Will Smyth scoring for Moynalty.

Oran McKenna denied another Ratoath goal tipping the ball over the bar, and Gorman added two more points to round out a top-class display. James McCabe was outstanding in the closing stages, fielding possession across the pitch to help Moynalty see out a well-earned victory, with the lads scoring an impressive 4:10 from play.
