Kilbride Ladies secured a thrilling Division 4 League Final victory over local rivals Dunboyne on home turf, capping off a phenomenal season with yet another piece of silverware. Kilbride displayed fluid ball movement and impressive control of possession. Megan Peters set the tone for the match with an outstanding display, slotting two goals before the 20-minute mark.
In midfield, Serena Gavin and Kate Reilly worked tirelessly, covering every inch of the pitch, setting up key plays, and ensuring Kilbride maintained dominance. They kept the pace throughout.
Kilbride’s defensive unit stood firm, creating a solid wall that left Dunboyne struggling for scoring opportunities. Holly Clancy added her name to the scoreboard with a well-taken point before the break.
At halftime, Kilbride held a narrow but crucial advantage: 2-03 (9) to 0-5 (5), knowing that the contest was far from over.
Kilbride raised the bar in the second half, hungry for the win.
Aideen Reilly wasted no time in making an impact, firing home a superb goal to extend Kilbride’s lead. Holly Clancy, followed up brilliantly to secure another crucial goal. Meghan Leddy showcased brilliant saves and kick-outs, showing consistency throughout.
Dunboyne responded with two more points, only four of their total came from play, showing the strength of Kilbride’s defensive structure. They shut down their attack, which could be seen espeically in the last five minutes with Sarah O’Leary brilliantly blocking a close scoring chance.
As the final moments ticked on the clock, Kilbride prepared for their second win of the week. Kilbride Ladies were officially Division 4 Champions.
Kilbride Ladies have well and truly earned their name on the map, proving that they are a force to be reckoned with.
