Referee Kieran Olwell threw up the ball with the visitors playing towards the roadside goals. Rathkenny sent over the opening score through Jeaic Timmons in the second minute. The hosts then sent over three pointed efforts (two from frees) to lead by two with seven minutes played. The visitors had chances to reduce the lead but sent four efforts wide and saw another come back off the post. St Michaels extended the gap further on fourteen minutes, when successful with a two-pointer free. The visitors saw another effort come off the crossbar then post before Jack Gore picked up the loose ball and sent over the bar. With nineteen minutes played the hosts sent over from play to put four between the sides. A minute later, Daniel Gavagan reduced the lead when popping over from out on the right. Rathkenny then levelled matters when an attack broke down but folRathkenny come away with victory. 

Rathkenny travelled to Carlanstown and came away with both points in this J M Food Services, Football League Division 2, Round 7 game played last Tuesday evening, May 27lowing a wayward pass from the St Michaels rearguard found James O’Hare, he passed to Oisin Cummins Fuller who rounded the keeper and sent to the net on twenty-one minutes. St Michaels restored their lead when sending over another two-pointer free. Joey Curtis reduced the gap to the minimum with a free on twenty-six minutes. Rathkenny went back in front on twenty-eight minutes when Daniel Gavagan sent a long ball to the edge of the square and James O’Hare managed to get a fist to it before the St Michaels defender and goalkeeper and the ball ended in the back of the net. It left the half time score St Michaels 0-8 Rathkenny 2-4.

The second half began with several wides, four from the hosts and one from the visitors. The hosts finally added to their total with a point as the clock approached eleven second half minutes. Two minutes later, Max McKenna added a pointed free for the visitors to leave two between the teams again. Joey Curtis added another point from a free before he stretched the lead with a goal on sixteen minutes. Following a foul on Daniel Gavagan, James O’Hare took a solo and go and passed it on to Noah Jenkinson who was fouled. James O’Hare was following up again and from his solo and go, the ball found Padraig McKeever who offloaded to the on rushing Joey Curtis to palm to the net. The gap was now out to seven points. The hosts dug deep and sent over points on nineteen minutes from play and twenty-two minutes from a free. When the hosts sent over their third two-pointer free of the evening on twenty-five minutes, the gap was down to three. Sean O’Hare put four between the sides when he pointed with two minutes of normal time remaining. The hosts sent over the final score of the game three minutes into injury time.
