Oisin McInerney celebrates a score for Carnaross

Moynalty 1-13 Carnaross 0-13

Carnaross welcomed neighbours Moynalty to Páirc Naomh Chiarán for this Division 9 clash. Moynalty inflicted the home side's first defeat of the campaign.

Carnaross started brightly with Paddy Morris registering three points, two from frees where he was fouled. Oisín McInerney tapped over a point to extend the lead with Moynalty registering two scores of their own. Shane McNiffe, playing outfield for a change,  clipped over a point from close range. Cillian Comaskey was creating havoc as a target man and landed a fine score. Comaskey turned provider to the Bomber McNiffe who spun over a second with the outside of the boot. At half time,  the Ross led by 8 points to 4. Ian Donoghue, Tomás Plunkett and Dan Roche were enjoying the spoils in defence at the turn of ends.

The third quarter belonged to Moynalty who had the luxury of youth on their bench. They registered 1-4 without reply to wrestle control of the game. Tackles became tougher and later, as both teams tired. Cian Yore and Paddy Farnan excelled in this climate. Moynalty continued to lay siege to the Carnaross rear guard but another McInerney score kept the Hoops alive. Carnaross reignited their challenge with a nice Shane O’Reilly score from play before a massive two pointer from Paddy Morris. With a goal between the sides, the Ross created one final chance but Shane O’Reilly's well struck effort drifted wide of the post.

Carnaross slip to second in the group behind unbeaten St Ultan's and face Simonstown in two weeks time.
