In a very exciting game in ideal conditions the outcome was decided in the dying minutes. Trailing by three points at half time, the Tones did not make an ideal start to the second half conceding 1 01 in the opening minutes. A Joe Smith free meant that a six point deficit now confronted the home side on a 0-6 to 1-9 scoreline. However, playing swift counter-attack football Tones burst into life. Evan Curley began the revival with a fine point while three goals, one each from Dylan Mc Fadden, Andrew Crawford and Rian Fiannaidhe put Tones 3 07 to 1 09 ahead.
The visitors added two points to reduce the gap leaving Tones with a two point lead as full time approached. The exchanges became frantic with the Tones hitting two wides while Laochra O Fionnagain hit the crossbar from close range. The visitors put a sweeping move together to hit what would prove to be a match winning goal.
