HL Div 2: Dunboyne continue on their winning ways

Dunboyne senior hurlers continued their winning ways in Paddy O'Brien Park with a tight tussle against the locals.

A brisk start with 2 scores in the opening two minutes from Sean Cregan and Jason Gleeson settled Dunboyne straight away. But Navan's response was immediate and nudged 1 point ahead themselves by the 8th minute. The rest of the first half continued with the teams being level on 4 occasions. Scores from Jason Gleeson (3, 1f), Niall Smyth, Eogan McCormack, Liam Callanan and Sean Cregan were all countered by Navan and left the scores tied on 0:09 on 26 minutes. But it was Dunboyne who would grab the initiative as the half drew to a close with a pointed free from Gleeson and Cregan getting his third.

The second half wasn't exactly awash with scores but Dunboyne managed to grind it out and kept their noses in front throughout. Navan registered the first score in the 9th minute but Gleeson pushed Dunboyne 4 ahead by the 17th minute with 3 frees. This was followed up with a tidy score from Niall Smyth before youngster Eoin McCrudden, who looked impressive off the bench, registered Dunboyne's final score. Its been a solid start to the season so far and the lads remain unbeaten in the League.
