St Ultan's 2-12 Carnaross 0-09
Carnaross were no match for a rampant Ultan's side in Round 6 of the Division 4 League played in Páirc Naomh Chiarán. The away side dominated the first half as Carnaross were left chasing shadows. Amazingly, the Ross recorded the first score from a free by Fox. Ultan's led 2-8 to 0-1 at half time. The only other bright spark was a goal chance for Paddy Morris saved by Keith Hennessy in goals.
In the second half, Carnaross emerged with much needed energy and spirit. Oisín Yore and Luke Gillic gained numerous possessions with both players added points from play. Gillic burst through for a goal chance but saw his effort hit the upright to go wide. Darragh O’Reilly added a brace from frees before Dillon Fox landed a nice twi pointer from a dead ball. Paddy Morris came agonisingly close to finding the bottom corner of the net but his effort went the wrong side of the post. Ultan's continued to pick off a point or two, but Carnaross needed to convert every opportunity to keep the comeback alive. Lee Hennessy could've made it 3 goals for Ultans but was denied by the feet of McNiffe in goals. Oisín Farrelly added a point when he was spung off the bench but all the heavy lifting was done in the first half by the men in green and black.
A disappointing evening for an understrength Hoops side who were outplayed by their junior counterparts St Ultan's.
