Navan O’Mahony’s 2-14 Curraha 1-15
In a game that was in the balance until the final whistle, O’Mahony’s held on to secure the win in an entertaining game in Paddy O’Brien Park on Friday evening.
Ben Forde raised the first white flag of the game from a free in the opening minute and almost ten minutes passed without further score when Curraha equalised. A goal from Evan Bird gave his side the lead, which he followed up with a point.
Curraha dominated the scoring for most of the final quarter, kicking three points from play and the bare minimum separating the sides approaching half time. A Forde point put two in it as the final score of the half.

Curraha got off to a lightning quick start in the second half, taking the lead with a goal in the opening thirty seconds. In the next three minutes, they added three points to give themselves a four point lead.
In the fifth minute, Jack McConnell settled his side down for the second half with an impressive two-pointer free. Two minutes later, Ciaran McGuinness kicked a good score to leave only a single point between the sides.
Although Curraha managed another score to edge slightly further in front, Podge Gallagher nullified this almost instantly. Points from McConnell put O’Mahony’s back in the lead. With twelve minutes to go, Kian McGee executed probably the most impressive play of the match by running to intercept a Curraha pass, holding possession and eventually splitting the posts at a time when a score was badly needed.
McGuinness added two points and with five minutes to go, Curraha added some more scores to leave the game in the balance. A point separated the sides when Forde found the net approaching injury time and a Curraha free on the cusp of thirty minutes left only a goal between the sides. A dangerous ball in was worked to safety with a good play involving Max Farrelly, Killian Clarke Doggett, Jack Lafford, McGee and McConnell. The last kick of the game came as a treacherous ball at head height into the square but it hit the crossbar and over to safety, leaving O’Mahony’s with a two-point lead.
