The 2025 edition of the Meath GAA yearbook ‘Royal County’, looking back on the 2024 GAA year, is available now in shops countywide.
The undoubted highlight of 2024 was our U20 footballers ending a 23-year wait for a Leinster title and coming within millimetres of making an All-Ireland final. After so much good work at minor level in recent times, to see that progress extend to the older grade was a huge step forward.
Our senior footballers and hurlers endured some tough times after gaining silverware during the preceding year. While results may not have been what we wished for, there was certainly no doubting the efforts of those who represent us in the Green & Gold.
At club level, there were football successes for Dunshaughlin, Meath Hill, Dunsany and Carnaross, while in hurling Ratoath, Navan O’Mahonys and Kilmessan claimed the major championship honours. Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels and Na Fianna retained their hard-won senior titles in ladies football and camogie respectively.
At underage club level, there were some phenomenal achievements as the Division 1 championship titles went to Seneschalstown (U19FC), Ratoath (MFC), St Ultan’s Cortown Gaels (U15FC), Kilmessan (U20HC), Kildalkey (MHC) and Trim (U15HC).
The yearbook - like those before it - aims to bring the memories of 2024 back to life and record them for posterity.
Royal County 2025 is available in shops all around the county for just €4.95.
