Evan Coffey sets up an attack for O'Mahony's against Trim at Paddy O'Brien Park

Navan O’Mahony’s suffered their first loss of the Div 2 FL campaign with defeat to Trim in a sunny Paddy O’Brien Park on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts were the first to raise a flag, courtesy of Jack Quinn within the opening minute. Trim responded almost immediately to equalise and were consistent in adding scores over the next few minutes, extending the lead to three points with ten minutes gone.

It was again Quinn who split the posts for the home side, leaving little between the sides. Right on the midway mark of the half, Trim worked through the O’Mahony’s defence to find the net and extend their lead.

O’Mahony’s answered this with an impressive two-pointer from play from Louis Collins, leaving a goal in it once more. Trim went on to add two points in the closing stages of the half and enjoyed a six-point advantage at the break.

Quick off the mark in the second half, Trim scored within seconds of the throw-in and followed it up two minutes later with a two-pointer, adding further distance between the sides. A further point was followed by a fifth-minute goal and thirteen points separated the sides.

O’Mahony’s first score of the second-period came with a good shot from Robbie Keelaghan but it did little to dent the deficit between the sides. Trim managed to add a number of scores for the remainder of the game, including another goal in the twenty-fourth minute.

Keelaghan’s second score came in the twentieth minute and was O’Mahony’s last score of the game and Trim were deserving and convincing winners.
