FL Div 5: All square in rain soaked Kilmainhamwood

April 28, 2025

Kilmainhamwood's Brian Cassidy

Kilmainhamwood 1-11 St Colmcilles 2-8

On Friday evening last St Colmcilles made the lengthy journey from Piltown to a rain soaked Kilmainhamwood.

Proceedings got under way and Kilmainhamwood opened their account through a point from Eóin Finnegan and Niall Bennett. Colmcilles had notched over their own scores and held a small lead until a very well worked attack with nice link up play from the forwards delivered a ball to Adam Crosbie who finished the ball calmly to the back of the net to restore parity. Colmcille's kept on the Woods tails with a few well taken scores to put them back in front. A shot from Paul Carolan just about made its way over the blackspot to reduce the Cilles advantage. Four more points from Brian Cassidy, Niall Bennett, Ciaran Doyle and Charlie Cunningham brought the game to half time and left the Wood down by one point.

Half time Kilmainhamwood 1-7 St Colmcilles 2-5

The rain got heavy in the second half and scores were hard to come by. Kilmainhamwood fashioned 4 points to Colmcilles 3points in this half. Nice play from Eoin Finnegan and Charlie Cunningham accounted for 2 of these points. The other 2 points came from the boot of Shane Townley from play and the other was a nicely taken free which put the Wood a point clear and looked to have secured the win. Colmcilles stuck to the task and got their point to tie up scoring proceedings and the game reached its end.
