Drumree 0-16 Dunboyne 2-13
There’s never a dull moment when Drumree and Blackhall Gaels meet, and Thursday evening’s showdown at Drumree was no exception. While the visitors took home the win with a final scoreline of 0-16 to 2-13, Drumree can hold their heads high after a stirring second-half performance that reminded everyone why this fixture is always one to watch.
The first half for Drumree was a slow and frustrating affair. Blackhall Gaels capitalised early and found the net, putting Drumree under real pressure going into the break.
The real turning point came after the break. With some tactical changes and three crucial substitutions—Jack Leonard, Darragh Carolan, and Kevin Hally entering the fray—Drumree flipped the script and the impact was immediate.
Darragh Carolan was a standout in the back line, bringing control, aggression, and calm under pressure when it was needed most.
Evan Curley was immense throughout, keeping the scoreboard ticking over and showing great composure under pressure. His work rate and sharp shooting were instrumental in keeping Drumree within touching distance. AJ Collins also delivered a commanding performance, linking play from the backline and driving the team forward with real determination.
The second half belonged to Drumree, with wave after wave of attack showcasing their resilience and spirit. They matched – and often outplayed – Blackhall Gaels for much of the half, clawing back the deficit and keeping the crowd on their toes.
While the result didn’t go their way this time, Drumree’s second-half performance was a real statement of character.
As ever, the rivalry between these two neighbouring clubs brought out the best in both sides. Drumree may not have secured the result, but their second-half display was nothing short of inspiring. With players like Curley, Collins, and Carolan making their mark, the future looks bright in Red and White.
