Navan O’Mahony’s 3-14 Dee Rangers 2-09
A ten point lead in the first half had been wiped out by the early stages of the second, but O’Mahony’s rallied again to finish strongly and emerge as eight point winners in this Div 1 FL encounter.
Eight separate scorers contributed to the victory. Charlie Murray opened the scoring within a minute. The hosts converted a free and added a point from play before Eimear Fay, after being set up by Neasa McDermott drew the sides level again. Lauren Woods played a well-timed pass to Orlaith Mallon who burst through to send the ball to the net to put three between the sides.#
Dee Rangers responded with a point off the crossbar, before a strong five minute spell for Collie O’Rourke’s charges which put some distance between the sides. Fay added a point while Woods and Isabel Thorp found the net in quick succession. A point from Jorja Keogh left nine between the sides, which came from a good play after a textbook interception from Aileen Falahee. Mallon then kicked a monster free.
The final twelve minutes of the half were dominated by the North Meath side, with 1-04 for the hosts broken up only by a single point for Woods and the gap reduced to four by the interval.
