Syddan maintained their unbeaten start in the league with a keenly contested draw in Athboy with hosts Clann Na nGael.
Syddan started impressively with early points from Daire Rowe, Eoghan Dillon and Cillian Rafferty. On 8 minutes Eoghan Dillon finished to the net after good interplay between himself and Daire Rowe. Clan na Gael responded with a goal at the other end to narrow the gap to 3 after 15 minutes. Further points from Daire Rowe (2) and Eoghan Dillon and Cillian Rafferty stretched the lead to 5 on 25 minutes. Cillian Rafferty goaled on 28 minutes with a fine solo run and finish. The half got better for the visitors when Daire Rowe finished to the net after a surging run from Ronan Mooney to put Syddan 3.08 to 1.05 up at the break.
Clan na Gael started well in the second half, they scored 1.04, without reply before Cathal Dardis scored from a free on 42 minutes. Clan Na Gael scored 4 two pointers in the second period aided by the stiffening breeze. Syddan responded with 4 points from Eoghan Dillon including a two pointer from a free on 48 minutes. Both sides had chances to take all the points, Dara Dillon struck the base of the Clan Na Gael post while Clan na Gael were denied by a fine Myles Avers save in the Syddan goal. With a minute of normal time remaining Clan Na Gael were ahead by a point when Cathal Dardis fisted over to tie the sides.
