9 Star Boardsmill maintain 100% record

Boardsmill 9-13 St Colmcilles 0-12

Boardsmill maintained their 100% record in division 7 of the football league with a comprehensive victory on home soil over St Colmcilles. They say that goals win games and that was evident as Boardsmill scored nine to the visitors zero.

Boardsmill made all the early running and opened up a three points lead with John Mitchell, Niall Durkan and Stevie Gibbons all dissecting the posts. The seasides responded with a well taken score from just inside the two points arc. Cillian Purcell scored a point for the second game in a row before Mitchell slotted over. Sean Newman curled over a beauty from thirty yards out before Donal Flattery scored Boardsmills first goal of the game as he was left unmarked at the back post to fist the ball home. Durkan kicked two further points before Colmcilles kicked the first two pointer of the game with a monstrous effort. Durkan slotted a well taken goal before Danny Dixon grabbed two further goals in quick succession to put the game beyond the visitors with halftime approaching. Darren McDowell made up for his wides at the weekend when he finished off a good team move. Any worries of Boardsmill being ladderless up front due to James Ashes absence was quickly put to bed as they lead 4-09 to 0-04 at the break.

The second half started the same as the first with Boardsmill grabbing control of the game with Newman sliding the ball past the onrushing Colmcilles goalkeeper. Dixon continued his rich scoring form with another point before Flattery scored his first point of the game. The next three scores were all maximums for Boardsmill as Mitchell grabbed two and Dixon completed his hat trick with an emphatic finish. A Durkan two pointer and goal was followed by a left footed point from sub Sean Cribbin. To St Colmcilles credit they kicked three two pointers in the second half but ultimately it was the goals that made the difference between the sides as Boardsmill ran out 9-13 to 0-12 winners
