Navan O’Mahony’s 1-13 Meath Hill 1-07
Although O’Mahony’s led for the final three-quarter of this Round 4 Div 2 FL encounter, a strong finish was still needed to ensure the lads got over the line.
The hosts were the first to score from a free in the second minute. Aodhan Mallon opened the scoring for the Brews Hill side, converting a free after a foul on Ronan Clarke. The tenth minute saw Meath Hill edge in front again and they looked to extend this lead, only for an impressive clearance from Darragh Murphy. Oisín O’Brien brought the sides level with a point, while the same player scored a goal two minutes later, after a good play through Louis Collins and Conor Finnegan.
The following five minutes saw Meath Hill kick a number of wides, while O’Mahonys squandered some possession in the scoring area. Conor Finnegan broke this spell in the twenty-fourth minute and two Mallon points left six in it approaching the interval. In the final two minutes, the hosts narrowed the gap with a goal and a point, leaving five in it at the break.
