FL Div 9: First half goals key as Ultans secure points

April 09, 2025

Conor Smyth St. Ultans

St Ultans 2-10 Moynalty 1-8

Moynalty started the brighter and were two points up but Conor Smyth with a  fine effort from play and an Alex Casserly free drew the sides level. Moynalty struck back with three points but the home side started to create more chances. A Conor Smyth point narrowed the gap to two. The Moynalty keeper pulled off an excellent save to deny Alex Casserly a goal, however a few minutes later Casserly was fouled for a penalty which he duly dispatched to the net. Another Casserly free  extended the lead and when a Barry Brady kickpass found Tom Brennan in space in square, he rounded the keeper to finish to the net.

Moynalty started the second half well with two scores and but for some resolute defending the gap could have been closed more. Alex Casserly steadied the ship with Ultans first score of the second half after 13 minutes. Further scores from Breslin from play and a 45, Alex Casserly, Mark Allen and fine effort from wing back Lorcan Hughes were enough for victory despite a late goal for the visitors.
