Meath Hill 2-10 Rathkenny 3-07
Meath Hill made the short trip to Rathkenny on Sunday morning looking to pick up a win.
Meath Hill started the game brightly and opened the proceedings with a point from play of the boot of Kyle Martin. Both teams traded possession but eventually Ryan Shekleton stepped up from 30m to extend Meath Hills lead. Rathkenny did get into the game and took the lead from their first two attacks, getting a goal and a point from play. Andy Monaghan brought the game back level with two points from close range. Meath Hill stepped up the gears and got their reward with a goal coming from Cillian Maher. Rathkenny were awarded a sceptical goal after some confusion with the referee as to where the free should have been taken. Both teams traded points at the end of the half to go in level. Second half resumed with Andy Monaghan and Tomas Smith slotting over points form play but the lead was quickly halved by a Rathkenny point. Meath Hill hit a real purple patch with two more points coming off the boot of Andy Monaghan and Aaron Farrelly scoring a brilliant solo goal with a surging run from midfield. Rathkenny hit back immediately with a goal of their own but were soon reduced to 14 men. Meath Hill got stuck in again and extended their lead through points from Ben Gogarty and Colin Breslin. However, this set back didn’t stop Rathkenny and they finished off the game with the remaining 3 points to see the points shared at the final whistle.
