Meath Hill 1-08 St. Pats 0-11

Meath Hill travelled to Stamullen on Saturday afternoon with both teams looking to register their first win of the league.

St. Pats got off the mark straight from the throw in, winning a free on the edge of the D to convert easily. Pats were relentless in their attacks, giving the Meath Hill defence not let up but couldn’t take their chances. Meath Hill eventually got on the board through a goal from Sean Owens, after a lovely ball played in by Ryan Owens. St. Pats responded well, hitting the next two points from play. Both teams had an even split of possession in the first half but were careless in the final third giving away unforced turnovers. Ryan Owens put the Hill ahead for the first time in the game from a nicely struck two pointer off the outside of his boot. St Pats hitting the last remaining points of the half to go in a point up. Half time score Meath Hill 1-02 St. Pats 0-06

St. Pats started the half were the left off, hitting the first point from play in the second half. Meath Hill responded immediately though through a well taken point from Sean Owens, followed by another point from Jack Slavin which came through patient play. Meath Hill went close to taking the lead with a couple of goal chances being squandered and a good save by the keeper. St. Pats got back into the game through two easy frees from close range putting them back out in front. Pierce McGrath from a close range free and Dominic Yorke two pointer pulled Meath Hill level within the remaining 5 minutes to leave the game well poised. Neither side was able to convert opportunities that fell their way leaving the game level at the final whistle. Next up for Meath Hill is O’Mahonys at home on Saturday afternoon.
