St Ultans 2-17 (2-2-13) Nobber 2-11 (2-4-3)
A strong second half from St Ultans secured both the points in a competitive encounter.
Ultans had the aid of a strong breeze in the first half and got the perfect start with a Mark Allen point, quickly followed by Ruairi Buchanan goal after he was setup by good work from Oisin DunneChristie. Nobber response was immediate and they scored a well worked goal on a counter attack. The early drama continued as Ultans were denied from the penalty spot with a good save from the Nobber keeper. Cian McBride pointed after a strong run but Nobber replied with three of the next four scores including a two pointer into a strong breeze. McBride with a two pointer from play and fine effort from wing back Darren Hughes gave Ultans a three point advantage approaching half time but the home side scored a goal just before half time to draw the sides level.
Nobber aided by the breeze scored two points from play both outside the large arc to give them a four point lead and all the momentum. Two frees from Buchanan kept Ultans within a score and when McBride rattled the net eight minutes into the second half Ultans had the lead which the never relinquished. Five frees and one from play from Buchanan, an Adam Rogers free and free from distance from Keith Hennessy for an orange flag combined with resolute defence left the visitors with six to spare at the final whistle.
