FL Div 4: Brave Brigids effort falls short

St Brigids Michael Flood

Castletown 1-18 St Brigids 1-10

St Brigids travelled to Nobber to play Castletown in Round three of the League. Castletown started the quicker with three points on the board by the seventh minute before Dylan Briody opened our account with a two pointer. Castletown followed up with the next three scores, a goal and two points to move into a commanding 1-05 to 0-02 lead after fifteen minutes. Rory Collins nabbed a point followed likewise by Dylan and Ivan Smyth to get us moving again on the board. Castletown replied again with two minors but we finished the half with a goal from Cian Blake to claw us into just a two point deficit at the break 1-07 to 1-05.

Cian converted a free for our second half opener and we went nip and tuck with Castletown until the fiftysecond minute and with the scores at 1-11 to 1-09 Castletown scored a two pointer to open the lead to four and pushed for home outscoring us five points to one for the remainder of the match to have it finish 1-18 to 1-10 which probably wasn't a reflection of the brilliant effort put in by all our lads with a special mention for our two midfielders Michael Flood and David Gibney who were tireless and put in serious shifts up and down the field.
