Meath Hill 2-16 Kilbride 4-10
Kilbride travelled to Meath Hill on a hot Sunday morning in the first round of the Division 7.
Meath Hill starter the game brightly but struggled to convert early chances. However, Kilbride were the more clinical team, scoring two goals in the opening few minutes. Meath Hill eventually got on the board through points from Ryan Shekelton and debutant Aaron Farrelly. Kilbride struck back immediately with a goal coming of a misplaced pass and knocked over another point of the resulting kick out. This purple patch continued for Kilbride hitting another 1-02 in between a couple of Meath Hill scores. Meath Hill eventually got their own purple patch hitting 2-01 without reply, with the goals coming from Colin Breslin and Aaron Farrelly. Both teams traded points into the last few minutes of the half, Kilbride one up at the break. Half-time score: Meath Hill 2-07 Kilbride 4-02
Kilbride started this half the strongest getting the first couple of scores, one of which a two pointer. A patch of inaccuracy crept into the game with both teams getting the ball into good positions but were unable to find the end result. Meath Hill eventually got back into the game with two frees, both coming from Dean Martin and and another from play of the boot of Colin Breslin. Meath Hill started to get a foothold in the game and pull the game back level with a two-pointer coming off the boot of Shekelton and two points from play from Jake Gillen and Ryan Carry. Both teams continued to trade points during the last third of the second half but were unable to be separated.
