O’Mahony’s got their Div 2 HL campaign off to a good start with a comprehensive win over Kilskyre/Moylagh in Paddy O’Brien Park on Wednesday evening.

A quick start, with points from Ryan Butler and  a goal from debutant Dean Walsh leaving O’Mahony’s five points up in the opening minutes. In the same period, Kilskyre/Moylagh had a number of shots but were just wide of target. Their first score came in the seventh minute, with Finn Malone responding in turn for O’Mahony’s after a good set up from Sean McDermott.

Another point for the visitors came in the tenth minute, with Butler and Shane McCarthy adding to O’Mahony’s tally.  Both sides had a number of impressive scores for the remainder of the half, with Malone and Butler scoring for Pat Nolan’s side.

O’Mahony’s were quick out of the traps in the second half, with Martin Moroney raising a white flag before thirty seconds had elapsed on the scoreboard. Butler then stepped up adding a point from a free and following it within seconds with a goal after Jack Flynn put in a good run to set him up.

With some distance between the sides for the first time, Walsh and McDermott added points, meaning O’Mahony’s had extended their lead from five to twelve in a four minute period.

The visitors only core of the second half came with a good point from play in the sixth minute. McDermott found the net almost immediately and midfielder Jack McConnell also got on the score-sheet.

The final twenty minutes of the half were quiet from a scoring perspective, with Butler converting a free and scoring an impressive goal. Flynn also raised a white flag in injury time, leaving O’Mahony’s comfortable winners at the final whistle.
